Book Club Pick- The Light We Lost

The Oh So Official Book Club read The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo and enjoyed an evening discussing it over book themed food and delicious Sweet Cherry Manhattans. Food included New York Style Pizza, “Big Apple” Nachos and a Middle Eastern hummus platter.

This wasn’t the typical girl has to pick between two loves book. It had a few twists and turns and really had us asking, are we team Gabe or Team Darren? Jill Santopolo did a fantastic job with the writing and description of emotions throughout the book which pulled at our heartstrings. Check out the Discussion Questions and a Quiz: Are You Team Gabe or Team Darren? The last “assignment” given was to start a Darren’s List….aka Bucket List but with a book club themed name. This was really fun discussing and listening to my book club friends talk about all the things they’d like to do someday and it challenged me to write them down (or in my case make a list in my Notes on my iPhone) so that I can start checking them off and living a life I’ve dreamed of. Skydiving, traveling to Greece and Banff Canada, learning to surf, finish learning Spanish to become fluent and then traveling to use it, and owning a B&B were a few from my list. What would be on your “Darren’s List”?
