Book Club Pick- Then She Was Gone

I do love a good thriller and Lisa Jewell delivered just that with her book Then She Was Gone. As host for our Oh So Official Book Club I had a fun time picking an off the grid location to set the theme for our get together….the basement. I transformed part of my unfinished basement into a wood paneled dining dungeon complete with a bookshelf of eerie cages. Don’t want to give away too much but this one was certainly a page turner.

To create this basement dungeon look I used wood paneled shower curtains, a candelabra I picked up at Marshalls in the clearance isle, wire baskets turned upside down to look like cages also from Marshalls, and this cute tea cup set I scored for 1/2 off on Amazon to sip our champagne from.

We had lasagna, chocolate cake and drank champagne from tea cups that were also party favors.

It really felt like we were in the book while discussing it. Transforming a space is something I really enjoy doing.
